Weekly Waffle #1

Ok then here goes with what I hope will be first of many meanderings through my thoughts and work for the week. The main thing for me this week wasn’t directly gaming related, but was a belated Christmas present from my Mum. A Star Wars picture called ‘Super Troopers’. I’d seen it in a local shop but had done nothing but admire it, and now it’s hanging on my wall and I’ve done nothing but admire it more. I just love it and it puts a smile on my face every time I look at it. Let’s just hope I don’t just sit there admiring it and not getting any painting done. Anyway here’s a pic so you can see what I’m waffling about.

So on to what’s on my desk this week. That is an easy one because it’s all Infinity. To be more precise it’s Haqqislam. I already have about 300 points of Nomads and wanted to try something different, both from a gaming and painting point of view, and really like the look of these models. I’ve no idea what they will play like, but for me and a lot of the friends I game with, its more about the models as opposed to the stats. So what we have here are the models from the Haqqislam Hassassin Bahram Sectorial Army box set:

Most of these are nearly finished. I just want to add some ‘tumble weed’ to the bases and then weather everything to finish them off.

Then we have the Muttawi’ah box set that I got to go along with them because they look cool and help to build up the points in the list.

Again these are nearly finished and just need some details finishing off along with the extra bit of work on the bases before weathering.

Tarik Mansuri, Amir of Khawarijs here, who has only been primed and pre-shaded at the moment, was the model that really swayed me to go with Haqqislam. It’s just such a nice dynamic sculpt that I had to give it a go.

I deliberately left him until last to paint because I wanted to get a feel for the colour scheme I was going to be using before I started on him. I’m really happy with the overall green and brown look from the other models and think it works well with the desert theme bases so my target is to try and get this guy finished for my next update.

So that’s what I’ve got on at the moment but this week the postman has also turned up with some more Batman models. This time its Victor Zsasz and some Arkham Lunatics which will be next up once I’ve finished the current batch of Haqqislam models.

I’ve got a few more things lined up after that but I’ll save them for now and not use everything up on this first update.

A couple of other site related things I am going to try and do before the next update are to get a painting guide posted and to set up some galleries for finished models. Although there might not be many pictures in the galleries to start with.

I hope you enjoyed this update and as I said at the start with bit of look it will be the first of many.

Steve.
