Weekly Waffle #221

I’ve had something of a revelation for this weekly waffle, well revelation is a bit strong but as I’ve been off work this week I’ve realised just how much work I do for the waffle each week on the commute. That couple of hours a day sat on the train gets a lot of things in order for the weekend and not having that time has meant that I’ve been all at the last minute getting this ready.  But I’ve got it done and I’d rather be last minute than have spent all week at work.

Gaming this week has consisted of a D&D session last Sunday which has been the first game in a few weeks. We’ve had a real challenge trying to find a time everyone could make and whilst we didn’t have everyone we had most of the crew which was enough for a session. And it was a good session. Things started off quite well but a few off us did get charmed by some willow the wisps and spent some time in the river and then we went to the aid of another barge that had run into a sand bank. Unfortunately for me and Thramin it was an attempt to rob us so being a pair of grumpy dwarves we just got stuck into a fight. The others did join in later as there were a lot more of the bad guys than we first thought so there help was welcome. None of us took any real serious injuries and we even manged to make quite a few of the robbers give up and sent them on there without having to kill to many of them. Then it was back on with our travels. We have another game tomorrow so I’m looking forward to that and I’m starting to get to grips with this new character and have some ideas of how I would like to develop him. Assuming he survives long enough.

On the hobby front it’s all been Titanicus with lots of building and quite a bit of painting. First up was getting the knights built which took a lot longer than I thought it would. There’s nothing complicated about the process but there are a lot of parts involved in the process. I’ve not got them into paint yet but they now built.

But the bulk of the week has been spent working on a pair of Reavers. I’ve got quite a few WIP pictures that I plan to use for a separate post in the not to distant future. From a build perspective all the weapons have been magnetised along with several armour sections with the idea being I can paint them all in different ways so that each time I field them they can look a little bit different. I’ve made a lot of good progress but as I found out with the Warhounds there are a lots of details that need to be painted and this takes a lot of time. The result is that I’m about half way through the process but I am enjoying it. I’ve also been listening to some classic HG Wells on Audable which has kept me going. As things stand they should be finished in a couple of weeks.

That’s it for this week. I’ll be continuing to work on these guys all week and we have another D&D session tomorrow so I should have plenty for you next week. Until then I hope you have a great weekend and will catch you all again next week.
